We invite you to join us this February to witness the spectacular swathes of snowdrops currently blanketing Highdown Gardens – a sure sign that spring is fast approaching! Snowdrops were arguably the most beloved plant of the Gardens’ founder, Sir Frederick Stern.
To share our passion for these winter wonders, Highdown Curator Alex New and snowdrop enthusiast Simon Hollingworth will be leading bespoke tours of the Gardens’ extensive snowdrop collection. The tours will cover identification techniques, fascinating facts, and expert tips on caring for snowdrops.
Tours held on Wednesday, February 11th and Thursday, February 12th will also be delivered as part of the 2026 National Garden Scheme Snowdrop Festival. The National Garden Scheme, a charity supporting various garden and healthcare beneficiaries, will have an information stall available on the day.
To ensure your place, please pre-book your tickets today.

Sir Fredrick Stern created Highdown Gardens, and out of all the plants he admired, arguably the snowdrop was his most beloved. In February you can witness the swathes of snowdrops that blanket Highdown, a sure sign that spring is around the corner!
