Last admission

Clock

Last admission to the Gardens will be 30 minutes before closing time. This is to ensure that all visitors have left the Gardens before the gates are locked.

Please note that a bell will be rung approximately 20 minutes before the gates to the Gardens are locked. This is to inform visitors to make their way to the main gates to exit the Gardens.

Admission to the Gardens is free of charge - but we do welcome donations to help us support, maintain and run the Gardens for future visitors.

Please note that the only public toilets (including disabled facilities) are situated at the entrance to Highdown Gardens.

Parking

Car parking sign

Car parking at Highdown Gardens is free of charge - but we do welcome donations to help us support, maintain and run the Gardens for future visitors.

Coaches are by appointment only - please contact us.

Please note that there is a 2.1m height restriction barrier in place at the entrance to the car park.

The car park is adjacent to the entrance to Highdown Gardens.

Cycle park area and bicycles

Cyclist

There is a dedicated cycle park area in the car park near the main entrance to the Gardens where you can lock your bikes up.

Please do not chain bikes to the fences around the actual Gardens.

Bikes are not allowed in the Gardens.

Picnics

Sandwich

Outside the Gardens: to the north of the car park is a picnic area with new picnic benches (with wheelchair friendly seating). This area is open all day every day.

Inside the Gardens: you are welcome to come and picnic in the Gardens, but we do not allow barbeques.

Litter and rubbish: please remember to take all litter or rubbish away with you when you go, or put it in the bin by the main entrance.

Dogs

No dogs - except guide dogs sign (narrow)

With the exception of Guide Dogs - dogs are not allowed in Highdown Gardens.

Also, please do not leave your dog unattended in your car in the car park, especially on a hot day - see:

Children

Children sign

Children are welcome in the Gardens, but should be supervised at all times, especially around the pond areas.

Please do not pick the flowers or plants.

Accessibility

Accessibility - Wheelchair

All visitors should be aware that there are some steep slopes and steps around the Gardens.

Also, please note that slopes, steps and grass may be slippery when wet, especially around the pond areas.

The physically challenged should, please, enquire before visiting the Gardens.
