About Rainbow Theatre

2017 is Rainbow Shakespeare's 18th Season, and once again they look forward to welcoming you to join in the celebration of live theatre at its very best.

Rainbow Shakespeare have been performing at Highdown for many years, and are famous for producing exciting understandable Shakespeare that can be enjoyed by all: children and adults, Shakespeare buffs and anyone wanting great entertainment provided by enthusiastic, professional actors.

This year sees the return of some of Worthing's favourite performers as well as some brilliant new talent.

“I never knew Shakespeare could be so understandable and such fun”
- Highdown patron 2014

“Rainbow Shakespeare at Highdown is so close to perfection it's almost unfair”
- Worthing Herald

The idea behind Rainbow Shakespeare is to provide high-quality, accessible professional productions that all the family could enjoy, and we are rapidly building a reputation for producing high quality theatre for family audiences.
Shakespeare done properly isn't 'difficult' or hard to understand. He just tells a good story - fights, murder, love ... what more could any audience or an actor want! Shakespeare does not need gimmicks or weird interpretations to make the plays accessible to modern audiences.

The plays speak for themselves - given actors who understand and enjoy playing them. Rainbow actors are used to working together in an ensemble. We want to make every audience feel we are playing to them - uniquely.

No two performances are the same. That is where live-theatre can win hands down over film or television.
